I was scrolling through Instagram and came across a post by History Photographed. I think it’s a perfect analogy for brand building in a 2D world. AKA, most DTC brands.

As you can see, the multiplane camera zoom effect is more compelling.
Now, ask yourself, how many layers does your brand have? How rich/engaging are they?
Some of the layers that you can use:
- Your product
- Your website (no-brainer, this should be the layer furthest from the camera)
- Your paid ads (visual/audio platforms)
- Meta
- YouTube
- TikTok
- TV/Streaming
- Email and SMS
- Your creator and influencer campaigns
- Your user-generated content
- Your PR and Affiliate publications
- Your copy and tone of voice
- Your customer service team
The most important question you should ask yourself is, are they speaking together (visuals and copy) to shape a cohesive world? Those are the questions you should be asking.
